The ANA, one of the instruments of the Basic Education Assessment System (Saeb), assesses literacy and literacy levels in Portuguese, literacy in mathematics and the conditions of the supply of the literacy cycle of public networks. All students in the third year of elementary school enrolled in public schools in the year of the assessment application are assessed. In 2016, the ANA tests were applied to 2.5 million students, from 50 thousand schools and 100 thousand classes.
